The IIT Madras Symposium aims to provide a focused platform for constructive discussions among the bright young minds from leading universities to appreciate the complexity of burning short and long term global issues. It aims at grooming the future leaders of the country, by providing them an opportunity to network among themselves and also with leaders on these issues.

The IIT Madras Symposium 2011, the third edition of its kind, aims to be bigger and better this time round. It is organized under the umbrella of Shaastra Evolve, which was created to help Shaastra become more inclusive, by incubating in Evolve new events that call for wider and more diverse participation.

The Evolve initiative is headed by two cores, who apart from heading the IITM Symposium team, are also in charge of Shaastra Nights, Technical Exhibitions etc. A dedicated team of nine coordinators apart from the cores spearhead the IITM Symposium 2011 effort.
