Submission Guidelines

1. The last date for submission of completed entries is 4th September 2009.

2. Written essays must be within 600 words and video entries must not exceed 5 minutes.

3. All entries (essays and videos) must be in English. Any references to vernacular languages must be accompanied by appropriate translation. Entries containing offensive language will be disqualified.

4. Written essays must be submitted either in .doc, .docx or .pdf formats. Video entries may be submitted in .avi, .wmv, or .mpeg formats.

5. All references to borrowed content or ideas must be mentioned as footnotes/captions.

Rights

1. The organizers of the IIT Madras Symposium on Sustainable Development and Shaastra 2009 will have the right to publish part or whole of the received entries for publicity and documentation purposes, including the participant's profile.

2. Submissions must not contain copyrighted material. However, content available through licenses like Creative Commons or GFDL may be used with appropriate references.

Selections

1. A total of 45 candidates shall be selected for participation in the Symposium. Another 10 participants shall be declared 'wait listed' and will be invited to participate if any candidate from the first list is unable to attend the Symposium.

2. The decision of the judges and organizers to select participants for the Symposium will be final and binding. The decision to award prizes, reimbursements etc. rests solely with the organizers.

3. The organizers reserve the right to revise the 'Terms of Participation' without prior notice. Any change in policy shall be reflected here.
